It was upon one of the two aforementioned hills that I set up to take this image. Id arrived shortly before 6am and had sat in position on this lonely hill, waiting for the sun to break. At first there had been little light at all, nothing but that indigo morning light which renders everything cold and uninviting. I had set the camera to an incredibly ridiculous WB (namely 10,000k) and had waited and waited for the sun to put in an appearance. I was freezing, bored, kept company only by a young calf who had taken a fascination with my morning antics and broken away from the safety of his herd. Eventually, I watched as the sun pulled its way slowly up above the distant hills and wrestled itself free of a resistant black cloud. When it finally did, the light fell in shards into the valley and illuminated the tree’s and clinging fog like fire. The whole of Corfe was set alight. The tree’s burned, the houses smoked, the valley was ablaze.
